Digital Goa, Dec 5- A fishing boat which had gone missing since last week with 27 crew members was rescued and escorted safely to Karwar by Coast Guards. “IFB Christo Rei encountered a gearbox breakdown off Belekeri, requiring immediate assistance. ICGS Savitribai Phule was diverted by Coast Guard District HQs (Karnataka) to locate & provide essential aid to stranded vessel. Boat was escorted safely to Karwar ensuring the safety of 27 crew members and the vessel,” informed Defence PRO. The fishing boat carrying 27 fishermen has gone missing in the Arabian Sea last week. The incident was reported from Karwar. As per IANS, the boat IFB Christo Rei was registered in Goa and had departed from Panaji. The last GPS signal was recorded near Belikeri in Ankola. As the network was disconnected for four days, coastal guards launched an operation to locate the missing boat.
