Digital Goa, Sept 8 – Goa has set a target of installing 21,200 rooftop solar systems by 2027, CM Pramod Sawant said today. The government aims to equip 50% of Goa’s homes with rooftop solar systems, he added. Sawant was speaking at a workshop on Goa’s Clean Energy Transition. A MoU was also signed between the Goa government and GIZ, supported by the German Embassy in India, at the event. The partnership will advance initiatives including Net Positive Panchayats, Model Solar Villages, green cooking, Agri-PV, Net Zero Campuses and the Goa E-Boat Pilot Programme, said Sawant. An Agri-PV pilot at Goa College of Agriculture is aimed at looking at ways to carry out farming and solar-power generation on the same piece of land, he informed. Sawant said the State is also contemplating to explore floating solar, canal-top solar and building-integrated photovoltaic projects.As of February 2026, around 3,100 Goans had registered under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, 289 homes were powered by rooftop solar systems, over 4,700 feasibility approvals had been issued and ₹4.28 crore released as subsidies, CM informed.
