Digital Goa, August, 7 – The Goa government has launched a new scheme to provide free Clay Pugmill Machines to registered clay Ganesh idol and pottery artisans to promote eco-friendly idol making and preserve the state’s traditional craft. Under the scheme, notified by the Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir, eligible artisans registered with GHRSSIDC will receive one machine free of cost in their lifetime. Each machine will cost up to Rs 35,000 and be funded by the state government. The scheme aims to reduce manual labour, improve clay quality and help artisans cope with rising material and labour costs while encouraging the use of eco-friendly clay idols. It will remain in force for five years.
