Goa’s Agriculture Policy launched; bans conversion of fields

Feb 11 – Goa govt unveiled the ‘Goa State Amritkal Agriculture Policy 2025’ today. The policy launched by CM Pramod Sawant proposes ban on the conversion of all fields designated as ‘rice’, ‘morad’, ‘kher’ and ‘khazan’, and focuses on revolutionising agriculture through organic farming, hydroponics, aeroponics, aquaponics, urban agriculture, and vertical farming. Goa has 52,000 registered farmers, of these 17,000 have Krishi cards. A total of over 3,751 suggestions from individuals, farmers groups, village panchayats and other stakeholders were received for the policy at the drafting stage.
