Digital Goa, Mar 1- Goa govt has mooted plans to relocate 1000 odd Scrapyards across Goa to designated areas identified by the govt, informed Minister Babush Monserrate today. 269 scrapyards in the state are registered with Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) while 800 odd are operating illegally, the minister said. Land will be identified by Waste Management Corporation and the same will be handed over to GIDC for setting up requisite infrastructure for scrapyards within 2 months time. A committee has been constituted under IDC chairman Aleixo Reginald Laurenco for this purpose, informed Babush. All scrapyards will have to either register with the govt or cease to exist, warned Babush.
