Digital Goa, August 6 – Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar informed the Assembly that Goa’s fish exports stood at 45,469 tons in the financial year 2024-25. He clarified that the state government has no control over the export system. Opposition MLAs also raised concerns that 92% of the state’s cold chain is in private hands, making it difficult for local fishermen to store their catch. MLA Veny Viegas said he was ready to get the cold chains set up through CSR if govt was interested. CM Pramod Sawant informed the house that the government is open to collaborating with private players in a PPP model to strengthen the cold chain network and help regulate fish prices.
