Digital Goa, Sept 4 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the GST reforms 2025 will strengthen the ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’ movements by simplifying tax slabs and reducing rates to empower domestic manufacturers and encourage consumers to prefer homegrown products. Highlighting the growth of Goa’s tax base, Sawant said that when GST was introduced on July 1, 2017, the state had 22,197 taxpayers, which rose to 47,232 by July 1, 2025—an increase of 25,035 taxpayers. Reduced GST on medicines, diagnostic kits, and insurance etc will help ease the burden of healthcare on common families and make it more affordable, he said.
