Digital Goa, May 13 – Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of the protest at Chimbel Village Panchayat over the alleged deadlock in issuance of income certificates, citing prima facie concerns of violation of human rights. The commission acted on a newspaper report titled “Protest erupts at Chimbel P’yat over income certificate deadlock” and has issued notices to the Director of Panchayats and the Secretary of the Village Panchayat of Chimbel. Both have been directed to submit replies and appear before the commission on June 2, 2026, at 10.30 am.
