Digital Goa, June 6- Minor ammonia gas leakage was reported at the Mormugao port around 12 noon today during unloading of the gas from the vessel at Berth No 8. The leakage was plugged using safety mechanisms of Zuari and Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) before the Fire Force Personnel arrived at the site, informed Fire Force officials. They also said that the leakage was a minor one and that the situation was under control. “We have been told that they will call us again if the need be,” informed the official. The repair work is on, he added. Local MLA Sankalp Amonkar who visited the site alleged that the companies were transporting the gas without properly following laid out norms and guidelines. He also urged the authorities to hold mock drills from time to time to create awareness among public as to how to respond to such situations.
