Monsoon in Goa finally crossed 100 inch mark, 16 days ahead of normal date

    Digital Goa, August 6 – After dilly dallying for over nine days, the cumulative rainfall during this monsoon season in Goa has finally crossed the 100-inch mark this morning. Remarkably, this milestone was achieved 16 days ahead of the normal date. After clocking record 1000 mm in just 15 days from July 13 to July 27, monsoon took 10 days to complete 100 mm rain from July 28 to August 6. Normal date for 100 inch rain in the state is August 22. Goa received just 6.8 mm rain in last 24 hours taking the cumulative total to 2543.4 mm which is just above 100 inch. Goa still have a surplus of 18.1 percent despite of weak monsoon in the last 10 days. Goa crossed 100 inch rainfall on Sept 11 last year while the same target was met on August 29 in 2021. In 2020 and 2019, 100 inch rainfall was achieved as early as August 5 and August 6 respectively.
