Digital Goa, June 12 – The Goa government has constituted new committees for the classification and re-classification of hotels, guest houses, homestays and Bed & Breakfast (B&B) establishments across the state. The move aims to streamline the categorisation of tourism accommodation units under various prescribed categories. According to a notification issued by the Department of Tourism, a state-level committee headed by the Director of Tourism will oversee the classification and re-classification of ‘A’ category hotels across Goa. Separate district-level committees have also been formed for North and South Goa to handle classification and re-classification of B, C and D category hotels, guest houses, and homestays/B&B establishments under Gold and Silver categories. Based on inspection reports of teams constituted for the purpose, the committees will take decisions and may also reject applications that do not meet the prescribed criteria.
