Digital Goa, Jan 5- Goa govt will withdraw the notification issued by Forest Dept specifying tree cutting fee of Rs 1,000 per tree, informed Forest Minister Vishwajeet Rane. He said he has discussed the issue with CM Pramod Sawant and that the dept will revert back to the old fee structure and devise the new structure by taking stakeholders into confidence.
▪️ All illegal timber depots to be closed down
Rane also informed that he has asked his department to raid and close down all illegal timber depot in operation in Goa.
Forest Minister further said that the two tigers sanctioned for Goa were not accepted by the Forest Dept as the State does not have requisite facilities to house them .He said the dept is working on developing a forest ecosystem favourable for animals. “If we start today, in next 10 years such ecosystem will be developed,” he added.
