Only 33% Smart City works worth Rs 335 crore completed so far

Digital Goa, July 20 – Only 33 % of the Smart city works worth Rs 335 crore have been completed so far, informed CM Pramod Sawant today on the floor of the House. Irked over opposition repeatedly referring to Panaji as Stupid city, Sawant claimed that Panaji will start looking like a Smart City once all projects are 100 % completed. Opposition grilled the government yet again today over substandard Smart City works and demanded judicial inquiry as well as House Committee inquiry in the irregularities in the projects. Conceding that there were issued in implementation of projects under Smart City, especially in the initial phases, CM said that a complaint has been filed with the Vigilance and Police against erstwhile Smart City CO and that the inquiry is going on. Erring contactors have also been issued show-cause notices, he added. When queried by opposition over flooding in the capital despite smart city works aimed at mitigating flooding, CM claimed that what is referred to as flooding by the opposition is actually effect of the high tide and that the issue of water clogging has been addressed due to the smart city works.
