Panaji’s 48 e-buses served nearly 17 lakh passengers in 9 months, 34% transactions digital: IPSCDL CEO

Digital Goa, April 28 – Panaji’s electric bus initiative, launched under the Smart City Mission is now operating 48 e-buses across 7 routes. The service has transported over 16.92 lakh passengers, generating revenue to the tune of Rs 1.93 crore in the first 9 months of their operation, informed IPSCDL CEO Sanjit Rodrigues. Monthly earnings have seen a substantial rise, from Rs 6.49 lakh in July 2024 to Rs 27.24 lakh by March 2025. Digital transactions now account for 34% of total revenue, reflecting a shift towards cashless payments, informed Rodrigues. People have accepted the Smart Card Digital Payment System, he asserted.
