CM Pramod Sawant has said that suspended Police Inspector Vikas Deykar is being questioned and will be arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving a minor. “Investigation in on, he will be arrested,” asserted Sawant. Deykar was suspended on October 31 after Old Goa police registered a case against him and Ranjini Palyekar under the BNS and POCSO Act. The complaint alleges that Deykar sexually assaulted a 16-year-old minor at the Crime Branch premises in Ribandar on July 25 and October 27, while Palyekar allegedly facilitated the incidents. He also said that Ajit Shankhwalkar, wanted in an alleged government job fraud case, would be traced. “He will also be found,” Sawant claimed. Panaji police have registered two FIRs against Taleigao resident Shankhwalkar for alleged cheating and forgery. He allegedly took ₹27 lakh for an Excise Department appointment and ₹25 lakh for a Deputy Director of Accounts post, supplying forged appointment letters. The fraud had surfaced when one of the job seekers approached the Excise Department to take charge.
