Nov 20 – Farmers from Pilgao, Bicholim staged a rasta roko at Sarmanas today, protesting against trucks transporting ore from the mines. Villagers blocked the road by erecting a fence and setting up a hut in the middle of the road. Efforts by the Bicholim mamlatdar to pacify the agitated farmers were unsuccessful. The farmers have vowed to continue their protest tomorrow. The villagers are demanding compensation for the damage caused to their agricultural fields due to mining activities, citing significant losses they have suffered.
