Digital Goa, Aug 29 – PPP partner for new smart water meters will be shortlisted by December, informed PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral today. Pointing out that leakage of non-revenue water in Goa amounts to nearly 40 %, PWD Minister Cabral said that Smart meters will help curb the leakage. He said the company taking up the project in PPP mode will get revenue based on the percentage of leakage they are able to plug. The smart meters will have facilities such as smart reading, smart flow control etc. Incidentally, the state produces nearly 600MLD of treated water each day, but significant amount of it is lost to leakage.
