Environment Public Hearing for Bicholim Mineral Block I to be held on August 11

Digital Goa, July 7 – Goa State Pollution Control Board will hold Environmental public hearing for Environment Impact Assessment of the Bicholim Mineral Block I on August 11 at 10.30 am at  Narayan Zantye Multipurpose Sports Complex, Sarvan, Bicholim Goa. Vedanta was declared as the preferred bidder for this block, which was one among the four blocks auctioned by the Goa govt in Dec 2022. Block I of the Bicholim Mineral Block with area of 478.5206 Ha is located in Bicholim, Bordem, Lamgao, Mulgao, Mayem and Sirigao villages of Bicholim Taluka with production capacity of 3.0 MPTA of iron ore. Either the District Collector or the Additional Collector or the Deputy Collector will preside over the Environmental Public Hearing. The Hearing is conducted for ascertaining the concerns of the affected persons who can express their views or seek information or clarifications from the project proponent. The participants who intend to express their views and speak have been asked to register their names separately from 9.30 am to 12.00 p.m. on the day of the hearing. The concerned persons having plausible stake in the Environmental aspects of the project or activity can send their views, suggestions, comments and objections in writing on or before the scheduled date of Public Hearing to the Additional Director, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, (IA-III Division) Paryavaran Bhavan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110003 or the Goa State Pollution Control Board, Opp. Saligao Seminary, Nr. Pilerne Indl. Estate, Saligao, Bardez Goa. Copies of the Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report is available for reference at the GSPCB offices. The soft copies can be also referred on the website of Goa State Pollution Control Board i.e. www.goaspcb.gov.in.
