Ration cards unused for six months to face deactivation

Digital Goa, October, 17 – The Directorate of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has announced temporary deactivation of ration cards with no ration-lifting transactions for six consecutive months and beneficiaries identified as duplicates through Aadhaar-based matching. The measures apply on SMART-PDS from October 1, 2026.

Inactive cards will be identified on the 21st of every month and automatically deactivated on the first day of the following month. These cards will remain visible in the system, but ration lifting and allocation will be suspended.

Affected households must complete e-KYC of all family members and verification within three months of deactivation, failing which the ration card will be deleted.

Beneficiaries flagged as duplicates within or outside Goa will also be temporarily deactivated, with an SMS alert sent to the head of the family. They must complete e-KYC and submit verification documents within three months. Following verification, eligible beneficiaries will be retained on the eligible ration card.

The department has urged affected beneficiaries to contact their respective Civil Supplies Taluka Offices immediately to complete the process and avoid deletion.
