Digital Goa, Apr 8- The Devasthan Committee of the Shri Devi Lairai temple in Shirgao has voiced opposition to the government’s decision to declare the temple’s annual zatra as a State Festival. The committee stated that neither its members nor the villagers were consulted prior to this decision. They also expressed uncertainty about the benefits such a declaration would bring and raised concerns about potential government interference in the festival’s traditional proceedings.
