Upcoming Heritage policy to identify more heritage structures and mechanism for their upkeep

Digital Goa, July 28 – Goa government has initiated the process for drafting Heritage Policy for Goa with an objective to add more monuments and sites to protected list and creating mechanism for their maintenance. Replying to a calling attention in the house today, Archaeology Minister Subhash Faldessai informed the House that 7 sites have been recently declared as protected. There are 51 monuments in state list of archaeological importance while 21 monuments are declared protected by Archaeology Survey of India. 400 private heritage buildings are also listed under Town and Country Planning Act.
