Digital Goa, Apr 1 – CM Pramod Sawant has asked Sarpanchas and Panchas to question and report if the need be, government department staff who visit the panchayats but fail to engage with the public. Sawant alleged that staff from various govt departments like Social Welfare, RDA, and Tribal Dept etc often visit panchayats but fail to perform their duties such as field visits, engaging with people etc with no accountability regarding their arrival or departure. “Many a times they don’t do any work,” alleged Sawant. He warned that non-performing govt dept staff could face show-cause notices, transfers, or even suspension if necessary. Sawant made these remarks during the inauguration of the new Panchayat Building of Village Panchayat Karapur-Sarvan, built under the Deendayal Infrastructure Scheme.
Expressing displeasure over garbage strewn on the roads in panchayat jurisdiction CM said that panchayat members should be ashamed of themselves.
