Digital Goa, April 21- At 430 kg per hectare, Goa’s cashew production remains significantly below the national average of 750 kg. Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) has initaited rejuvenation efforts to address this issue, informed GFDC Chairperson Deviya Rane. GFDC will undertake rejuvenation of 280 hectares of cashew plantations this year, and an additional 1,500 hectares over the next two years, she said. Since 2021, 450 hectares of cashew plantations have been revived, she added. Incidentally, of the total 56,000 hectares under cashew cultivation in the state, 12.5% is managed by GFDC. Rane was briefing the media about the 3 day cashew festival organised by GFDC from April 25 to April 27.
