Electricity Dept petitions JERC for 5.95 % power tariff hike for FY 2026-27 under MYT Plan; Public hearing on May 9

Digital Goa, April 24 -Goa Electricity Department has proposed overall power tariff hike of 5.95% across categories for FY 2025–26, under the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) framework submitted to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC). The petition also outlines a 5.64% hike for FY 2026–27 and 4.88% for FY 2027–28, with no hikes proposed for FY 2028–29 and 2029–30.
The proposed hike for domestic consumers includes an increase of Rs 0.60/kW/month in fixed charges and an energy charge hike ranging from Rs 0.06 to Rs 0.35 per kWh. The department estimates a revenue gap of Rs 408.76 crore for FY 2025–26, with projected revenue at Rs 3,081.97 crore against a net requirement of Rs 3,490.73 crore.
Two petitions have been filed — one for approval of the Business Plan for the 4th MYT Control Period (FY 2025–30), and another for the true-up of FY 2023–24 and tariff determination. The petitions are available on www.jercuts.gov.in and www.goaelectricity.gov.in. Public objections and suggestions can be submitted within 21 days, ahead of a public hearing scheduled for May 9, 2025, at 10 AM at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji.
