Digital Goa, May 12- CM Pramod Sawant said that the state government is considering bringing a new law to regularise unauthorised houses built on private, communidade lands and Alvara lands where owner’s name is reflected in the 1971 records. He said nearly 10,000 people had applied under the existing Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act (RUCA), but only 2,000 have benefitted so far. To address this gap, the government plans to amend the law so that more people, especially those who have built homes on their own land, are given a chance to regularise their houses, possibly after paying a fine. CM claimed that many houses are being demolished due to court orders following disputes, often between neighbours and govt is blamed for the demolition. Govt does not want to demolish people’s houses, he added. He was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a new government office complex at Bicholim.
