Digital Goa, June 2- District Collector of South Goa has issued an order prohibiting the assembly of four or more persons in and around the Goa Meat Complex at Usgao, Ponda. The restriction extends to a 1-kilometer radius around the compound wall of the Modernized Abattoir, effective from 12 am on June 2 until 12 am on June 10, 2025.The order, issued under Section 163 of the BNS (formerly Section 144 of the IPC)—has been put in place as the All Goa Muslim Jamaats Association is expected to transport animals from other states to the Modernized Abattoir in Usgao for the upcoming Bakrid festival. Past anti-slaughter protests near the Complex have led to imposing of these restrictions to prevent tensions and ensure public safety during the festive period, states the order.
