Goa to spend Rs 1.46 crore to sustain Rabies Controlled Status for next 3 years

Digital Goa, June 1- Goa govt has notified a scheme to sustain “Rabies Controlled Status” in Goa for the 3 year period from 01-04-2023 to 31-03-2026 at an estimated cost of Rs 1.46 crore. The scheme titled Rabies Free Goa Maintenance Scheme–Phase I aims to provide for sustained rabies control in Goa on long term basis and respond appropriately to any re-introduction of the virus. The yearly cost of the scheme is Rs 48,80,000. Vaccination of 30,000 odd dogs in the border Talukas of Pernem, Bicholim, Sattari and Canacona which directly border unvaccinated dog population of neighbouring States of Maharashtra and Karnataka will also be done under the scheme.
