Digital Goa, August 1 – Goa government will soon revise and increase the assured price given to farmers under the state-run Horticulture Corporation, CM Pramod Sawant assured the house today. The prices, which have not been revised for several years, will be updated at the earliest after consultations with farmers and inputs from the agriculture, horticulture, and finance departments, along with a comparative study of market rates and prices offered in other states, he added. Subsidy of ₹2 lakh per hectare is being provided for Mancurad mango cultivation in hard rock areas, and up to ₹60 lakh per hectare otherwise, he further informed. Goa is close to securing GI tag for Mancurad mango, he told the house. Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik informed that ₹600 per pit is being offered to assist mango farmers with planting.
Meanwhile, several legislators also flagged errors in the statistics tabled by the agriculture department, urging the government to ensure accuracy in official data.
