Digital Goa, August 8 – CM Pramod Sawant assured the House that the government will work towards securing a UNESCO World Heritage tag for Tiatr. The private member’s resolution moved by MLA Alexio Lorenco, emphasized the need to formally recognize Tiatr—Goa’s rich and dynamic theatre tradition—as an important form of Indian cultural expression deserving official acknowledgement. House further recommended that the Goa government, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, prepare and submit a nomination dossier for Tiatr’s inclusion in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, under the 2003 UNESCO Convention.
