Goa govt contemplating to sell 2 lakh sq m SEZ land at Sancoale to Goa Shipyard : Reginaldo

Digital Goa, Sept 4 – The Goa government is considering the sale of 2 lakh sq metres of SEZ-recovered land at Sancoale to Goa Shipyard, a Government of India undertaking, Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said on Thursday. Speaking after the 398th Board of Directors meeting of GIDC, Lourenco informed that the land would be sold at the rate of ₹4,000 per sq metre, with the deal expected to generate around ₹81 crore in revenue for the state. He said the sale would be subject to conditions, including 50% local employment, 50% procurement through MSMEs, and setting up of a skilling institute under CSR. We have put these conditions as previously we had bad experiences regarding employment to locals, Lourenco added.
