Digital Goa, Sept 22 – The Goa government has informed the High Court that it has decided to merge the cadres of Gram Sevak and Panchayat Secretary into a single post. The unified cadre will be designated either as ‘Gram Sachiv’ or ‘Panchayat Sachiv,’ the government told the court, informed Advocate General Devidas Pangam. The HC was hearing a petition regarding the appointment of Gram Sevaks in place of secretaries in some panchayats. The petition has now been disposed of. Pangam clarified that the actual implementation of the merger into a single cadre may take a couple of months.
