Hundreds rally at Margao’s Lohia Maidan against coal transportation in Goa

Hundreds of people from across the state gathered at Lohia Maidan in Margao for the “Goyant Kollso Naka” public meeting, voicing strong opposition to coal transportation and handling in Goa. The meeting, organized under the Goyant Kolso Naka (GKN) movement, aimed to raise awareness about the environmental, health, and economic impacts of coal-related activities in the state. Speakers at the event reiterated their demand for the government to halt all coal-related projects and urged authorities to prioritize Goa’s agricultural heritage, environment, and public health over corporate interests.

Leaders from Congress, Goa Forward Party, AAP, and Revolutionary Goans Party came together at the “Gõyant Kôllso Naka” public meeting held at Lohia Maidan, Margao, where citizens gathered to voice concerns over environmental protection in Goa. The meeting underscored the collective resistance to projects perceived as harmful to the state’s ecology and heritage.
