Goa Cyber Crime Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Thane, Maharashtra, in connection with a major cyber fraud case involving ₹2.09 crore allegedly duped from a Margao resident through a fake share trading app. Police identified the accused as Mayur Waghe, a resident of Nallasopara, Vasai, Thane. The case was registered in this regards on May 8. According to police, the accused and his associates allegedly contacted the complainant through multiple WhatsApp numbers, impersonating representatives of the Angel One trading platform, and lured him into investing through a fraudulent trading application called “Trendlytic” with promises of high returns in the share market. Believing the claims, the complainant allegedly transferred a total of ₹2,09,78,612 through multiple transactions into different bank accounts before realising he had been cheated. His bank account was linked to 12 other cyber fraud cases across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa.
