Digital Goa, June 9 – Tourism Department on Tuesday commenced the demolition of 21 illegal structures at Khobrawado, Calangute, in compliance with directions issued by the High Court. Officials said the action is part of an ongoing drive against illegal encroachments in the coastal village. The demolition campaign began on May 6 and 7, when 17 illegal structures at Savtawado, Calangute, were removed in the first phase. In the second phase, 21 structures at Khobrawado have been identified for demolition. Officials said the largest portion of the demolition involves an approximately 900-square-metre construction belonging to a hotel. The department has also announced a third phase of the drive, under which illegal structures at Umtawado, Calangute, will be demolished.
