Digital Goa, June 15 – Goa government informed the High Court on Monday that the TCP Board has decided to formulate criteria for the grant of increased or additional Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and building height permissions. The government stated that once the criteria are finalised and the necessary amendments are carried out, the same will be placed before the Court. The submission was made during the hearing of petitions challenging the 2023 amendment to the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations, which allows the grant of additional FAR and height. The amendment empowers the Steering Committee to modify the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations, 2010, without pre-publication or public consultation in certain cases. The petitioner has contended that this curtails the public’s right to be heard and violating principles of transparency and participatory governance. The Court noted that permissions already granted or processed would remain subject to the outcome of the petitions. It further directed that all such matters be kept on hold until the amendment process is completed. The High Court has adjourned the matter to July 29 for a report on further progress in the case.
