Live poultry consignments entering Goa must carry a certificate from the competent authority of the source area, including prescribed particulars on the birds’ source, health status and fitness for transport, wherever applicable. A notification issued by the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services makes the requirements effective immediately.Transporters must carry all legally required documents, permits and records and produce them for inspection on demand. Poultry transported into or within Goa must comply with applicable transport rules and be handled humanely to minimise overcrowding, injury, distress and disease transmission.Consignments failing to meet the stipulated conditions will be denied entry into Goa. Violations will invite action under applicable law, asserted the notification.
