Human Rights Commission directs Ponda PI to appear before it over allegations of inaction

Digital Goa, Feb 13- Goa Human Rights Commission has directed Police Inspector of Ponda Police Station to be present before it on March 7 over allegations made by a 17-year-old from Bethora that his family is compelled to flee from their home due to harassment over property dispute as police are not responding to their complaints. The commission has also asked the PI to file a report in the matter before it. The commission has taken suo motu cognizance of an article in the local daily in this regards. As per the news report the 17-year-old youth has alleged that police have been ignoring their complaints that his uncle has been making violent attacks on his widowed mother, siblings, and him. With the attacks increasing, the family has been forced to leave their home, stated the report. After a week of receiving no response from the Ponda police, youth has written to the authorities, including the Chief Minister, the report adds. The boy’s father died 20 days ago, and since then the uncle has been terrorising them over the property as per the report.
