Dec 11- The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) scheme, launched on March 31, 2023, to empower women and minor girls financially, has seen 12,061 accounts opened in Goa as of October 31, 2024, Rajya Sabha was told by Union MoS Finance in response to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade. Offering a 7.5% annual interest rate compounded quarterly, the scheme allows deposits between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2 lakh for a two-year tenure, with options for partial withdrawal and premature closure on compassionate grounds.
