High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) challenging a government directive for an independent audit into its financial affairs. The Court rejected the GCA’s claims of political vendetta, pointing out that the association had failed to submit its complete annual audit report for 2024–2025 to the District Registrar, providing only a covering letter and a single page. The Court observed that the interim order for an independent audit by a panel from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) does not violate the GCA’s rights or pass final judgment. Instead, it will provide necessary factual clarity regarding complaints of severe financial mismanagement and unauthorized expenditure under a previous managing committee. High Court extended a temporary stay on the audit process for one week to allow for legal options.
