Ponda Municipality discusses temporary relocation of 183 Palika Bazaar vendors

Ponda Municipal Council today discussed the proposed relocation of around 183 vendors from the Ponda Palika Bazaar to a temporary facility on a nearby private property, to facilitate construction of the new multi-storey market complex. The identified property admeasures around 1,500 sq metres. PMC Chairperson Virendra Dhavalikar informed that the owner has quoted a monthly rent of ₹3 lakh, but the council will negotiate to reduce the amount. The vendors are expected to operate from the temporary site for nearly two years while the new bazaar project, being taken up by PMC and the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), is under construction.
