Feb 4- Goa govt is contemplating to start fast train connectivity from Pernem to Canacona within next one to two years, informed CM Pramod Sawant. The local train will be akin to Vande Bharat train. “Starting a train from Pernem to Canacona will be done the first phase as it will be easier,” he said. Rail connectivity for other cities like Ponda and Panaji will follow suite, he added. Sawant said the aim is to reduce dependence on road transport and increase rail transport. The rail connectivity is likely to be further extended to Karwar and Sindhudurg, he added. Goa has been allotted Rs 482 in Railway budget to strengthen Rail infra for Konkan Railway and SWR. Developing of new stations -Sarzora, Mayem, Neura and redevelopment of Margao Railway Station is on cards.

CM also informed that Rs 102 crore has been sanctioned for Goa for road infrastructure under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna.
