Goa losing nearly 40% of drinking water to leakage and theft, says Water Supply Minister

Digital Goa, Nov 14- Goa is losing almost 40% of its treated drinking water due to two major problems — pipeline leakages and water theft — Drinking Water Department Minister Subhash Faldesai said today. Around 28% of the water loss is due to leakage, while 10–12% is due to theft, he noted. The government is aiming to reduce these losses by at least 5% in the coming months, he added. Faldesai said that govt has plans to replace 40–50-year-old pipelines, cause extensive leakage.
