Digital Goa, December 4, 2025 – The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested two individuals for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence operatives. The arrested accused have been identified as Ajaykumar Surendrasingh Singh (47), a resident of Margao, Goa and originally from Bihar, and Rashmani (35), residing in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and originally from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to ATS officials, the arrests followed an investigation based on technical surveillance, analysis of financial trails, and human intelligence inputs. The agency claims that Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) were using fake online identities, messaging platforms, and social media to obtain sensitive national security-related information from Indian civilians, including ex-servicemen, in exchange for money. Ajaykumar, a retired Army Subedar, allegedly came in contact with handlers operating under the fake identity “Ankita Sharma” during his posting in Dimapur, Nagaland in 2022. Investigators say he shared sensitive information, including details on army units, officer postings, and troop movements. ATS also revealed that the handlers attempted to install Trojan malware on Ajaykumar’s phone to gain silent access to classified military data without relying on messaging apps. During the probe, Rashmani was identified as an alleged conduit facilitating communication and financial transfers for the handlers.
