Digital Goa, Feb 2 – Yet another suicide case has been reported from the premier institute BITS Pilani, located in Zuarinagar. A female student reportedly committed suicide on the campus last night. This higher education institute has been rocked by a series of student suicides over the past couple of years, raising serious concerns about student safety and mental health. The South Goa Collector has taken cognisance of the incident, and an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the reasons behind the extreme step. Speaking to the media, the District Collector said that the District-level Mental Health Committee had earlier made several recommendations to the institution. Some of these recommendations have already been implemented, including the setting up of a 24×7 online counselling centre.
