Digital Goa, June 28 – The iconic Campal Lighthouse, popularly known as the Kala Academy Lighthouse, was demolished on Sunday after authorities declared the 23-metre-tall structure structurally unsafe and beyond repair due to years of coastal erosion and deterioration. Located behind Kala Academy on the banks of the Mandovi River in Panaji, the nearly 43-year-old concrete lighthouse had suffered extensive damage from continuous wave action and saline exposure.
