Digital Goa, June 30 – Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday indicated that the Goa Government’s proposed taxi policy, which aims to bring taxi operators onto a digital platform, is unlikely to be implemented before the 2027 Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters, Godinho said repeated efforts to convince taxi operators to adopt a digital platform have failed. “Taxi operators are not ready to go on the digital platform despite repeated convincing,” he said. “Which government of the day will take any such harsh decision when elections are just six months away? It will have to wait till the elections are over,” he said.”I thought I would get support from some quarters. But there was no support. My hands are tied,” he remarked. The Transport Minister acknowledged that there is no immediate solution to the long-pending issue but assured that the government would revisit it at an appropriate time. “In the immediate future there is no solution. I will come with a solution at the right time,” he said, while pointing out that “every other service is on a digital platform.”
