IMD issues Orange Alert for June 30 & July 1

Digital Goa, June 30 – IMD Goa, has issued an Orange Alert across Goa for June 30 and July 1, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph at isolated places. According to the latest district-wise warning issued on June 30, the alert level will reduce to Yellow from July 2 to July 6. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall was reported across several parts of Goa during the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on June 30. Margao recorded the highest rainfall at 126.1 mm, followed by Sanquelim (118.4 mm), both receiving very heavy rainfall. Other places that recorded heavy rainfall include Sanguem (110.4 mm), Quepem (110 mm), Dharbandora (104.4 mm), Valpoi (89.2 mm), Pernem (89.2 mm), Mapusa (89 mm), Ela (Old Goa) (86.2 mm), Canacona (74.4 mm), Ponda (70 mm) and Panaji (67.4 mm). Mormugao (50.2 mm) and Dabolim (46.6 mm) recorded moderate rainfall.
