Bhoma Panchayat rejects NOC for Banastarim bridge, cites four-lane highway concerns

Digital Goa, June 30 – The Bhoma-Adcolna Village Panchayat has decided not to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the proposed new Banastarim Bridge, stating that the application submitted by the Public Works Department (PWD) combines the bridge proposal with the four-laning of the Bhoma–Old Goa stretch of NH-748, making it impossible to consider the two projects independently. Confirming the decision, Bhoma-Adcolna Panchayat Sarpanch Abdul Khan said the panchayat has rejected the NOC. “If we give approval for the bridge, the four-lane project will automatically come,” panchayat members said. In a letter dated June 22, 2026, the Executive Engineer, Work Division XV (NH), PWD, sought the panchayat’s NOC for the project “4-laning of Bhoma to Old Goa section of NH-748 on Hybrid Annuity Mode – Construction of New Banastarim Bridge.” The PWD stated in its letter that it is seeking NOC for the proposed four-laning of the Bhoma–Old Goa stretch along with the construction of a new major bridge at Banastarim. It further informed that the project has already been tendered and the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) has been issued to M/s RKCPL Pvt. Ltd.
