As many as 107 people affected by the Vasco market fire have submitted claims, Mormugao Dy Collector Prataprao Gaonkar informed. A scrutiny committee is cross-verifying their details against municipal records, while the list has also been given to the market committee association for verification. Claimants include owners, tenants and traders. Mormugao Municipal Council(MMC) Chief Officer(CO) Siddhivinayak Naik said municipal records list 149 vendors, comprising 133 hawkers and 16 shops.The traders have been asked to provide supporting documents, details, photographic evidence etc wherever available. The traders have sought time until tomorrow to submit the details. Gaonkar said the government would decide and announce the quantum of compensation.
