Congress leader Girish Chodankar today charged that the Health Dept of Goa govt has flouted the medicine purchase process to benefit private pharmacy Wellness Forever Medical Pvt Ltd. Patients are forced to buy medicines at higher rates from this pharmacy, he said and added that he would approach the court if no probe is initiated in this matter. “injection by name ‘Morepenem (1 GM)’ was purchased for Rs 4800, whose lowest cost (L1) was Rs 131.50. While citing another examples, Chodankar said that ‘Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator’ injection used during treatment of brain stroke was purchased for Rs 29000, but actual cost is Rs 13000.
